FAQs

What is EMI?

The Economic Mobility Initiative (EMI) is your no-cost partner in starting and growing your dream venture. We empower LA County small business owners, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits by providing tailored support that helps you thrive and build generational wealth in our communities.

Is the Entrepreneurial Academy the same as LEEAF’s Accelerator?

No. The Academy and Accelerator are two different programs offered by LEEAF.

Although both programs aim to provide practical skills and assets to grow your business, LEEAF’s Entrepreneurship Academy, in partnership with the LA county and powered by the Economic Mobility Initiative, is a no-cost program open to all small business owners. In contrast, LEEAF’s Accelerator is for small businesses owned by women of color.

Another key difference is that the Academy offers various Classes under the Marketing, HR, Tech & OPs, and Finance courses that can be taken on your own time. In contrast, the Accelerator is an intensive 10-month training program covering entrepreneurial concepts and key skills.

Who can participate in the Entrepreneurial Academy?

If you are a small business owner in LA County eager to develop practical entrepreneurial skills to grow your business, submit a LEEAF interest form and connect with our Growth Facilitators!

If you were part of our other programs, you can still join the Entrepreneurship Academy!

When are the Entrepreneurial Academy Start dates?

The Entrepreneurship has already launched, but you can join a session anytime! Submit a LEEAF Interest form to talk to a Growth Facilitator to help you sign up for a session.
